Bill Barr

With a legal career that spans more than three decades and appearances in courtrooms from the US Supreme Court to trial courtrooms in five states, in cases ranging from constitutional conflicts to broken bones, for national labor unions to injured children, Bill Barr has been an advocate for his clients. Launching his own practice enables him to focus exclusively on individuals who may not otherwise find representation. Bill Barr works for people, individuals like you who may have been injured through someone else’s neglect or wrongful conduct. His experience and legal knowledge enables him to consider the broad ramifications of a claim, communicate effectively in order to build the best possible case for his client and litigate it with expert skill.

Bill Barr was born in Indianapolis, Indiana and later moved to Chicago. He graduated from Brown University where he studied English Literature and played basketball. After graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy and served on the USS Jason in Viet Nam and the Western Pacific. A graduate of John Marshall Law School with distinction, he was a member of Law Review and its Moot Court program. After passing the Illinois Bar exam he clerked for the Justice John M. O’Connor Jr. of the Illinois Appellate Court.

After leaving his clerkship Bill Barr began successfully representing injured people in Cook County courtrooms. Eventually, he was hired as a litigator by Boodell, Sears, Giambalvo & Crowley. When that firm merged with Bell, Boyd & Lloyd, he was brought in as a partner. In addition to the firm’s corporate clients, Bill represented injured individuals who were referred to him by other lawyers because of his expertise in trial work and his easy-going, straight-forward manner.

Bill Barr’s ability to relate in a credible way to his clients, his attention to detail and thorough investigation of the claim and painstaking, clear and dramatic presentation of the facts in a trial have distinguished his cases, which have resulted in significant verdicts and settlements.

Because Bill Barr has seen how devastating injuries can cause lifetime damage especially to young people, he has gone beyond his role of advocate to serve as a personal advisor to a number of his clients. It is not standard practice, but it has proved invaluable to a young amputee whose multi-million dollar settlement could have been wasted were it not for Bill’s efforts and the ongoing counseling he provided to her over a decade-long period following the successful conclusion of her case.
